KING OF KINGS HISTORY Every Christian congregation can trace its roots. Two unique histories tell the tale for each congregation's journey of faith. All churches Christian began their journey of faith when the journey was inaugurated at a blood stained cross and an empty tomb. The passionate sacrifice of Jesus Christ became the garden nursery that spawned millions upon million of churches world wide. Every Christian congregation - no matter what size or denominational affiliation - has a tap root that stretches back 2000 years and feeds off the blood rich atonement of Jesus Christ. King of Kings has two histories. The first history is shared with all churches Christian. The second is uniquely ours. The second began telling its tale on March 24, 1973. Twelve families discussed the feasibility of establishing a new Lutheran church in the Pomona Lakes area of Arvada. In view of the area's rapid growth and lack of churches, that group decided to prayerfully proceed. The first worship service was observed on June 10, 1973, at the Colorado Lutheran Home. On August 13, 1973, King of Kings became a legal entity as the Article of Incorporation was filed with the Secretary of State. In August of the same year Pastor Ivan Dale Gunderman of Chicago was called to be serve as first pastor. The first members, 98 baptized and 63 confirmed, were officially accepted into membership. The cornerstone for the present sanctuary was laid on November 10, 1974, and the building was dedicated March 23, 1975. At that date, King of Kings had approximately 330 baptized and 200 confirmed members. January 1980 Kathy Stegen was hired as Office Administrator. March 25, 1984, Tom Teske was installed as King of Kings second Pastor. March 30, 2008, Kirk D Miller was installed as King of Kings third pastor.
