I want to share about my recent trip to Uganda! Last week, I got the chance to explore some amazing ministry sites with fellow churches and pastors from our area. It was such a rewarding experience! We met some incredible families doing impactful work with Children’s HopeChest, and one story really touched my heart.
Let me tell you about a remarkable Ugandan named Olman John. His journey is both heartbreaking and inspiring. As a child, John faced the unimaginable—being kidnapped and forced into the Lord’s Resistance Army.
But through incredible resilience, he has emerged stronger. He is now thriving as a car mechanic, and he shares his powerful testimony about Jesus, forgiveness, and hope wherever he goes. His passion for uplifting children and his community is truly inspiring!
Sadly, John couldn’t spend much time with us during our visit. Just a few weeks ago, his precious daughter Apio, one of his 6-year-old twins, was taken from him in a tragic incident. It’s unfathomable to think of losing a child, especially in such brutal circumstances. John’s daughter was kidnapped and murdered by her teacher as part of a child sacrifice ritual, through witchcraft.
A lot of people are coming together in support, and more than 2,000 mourners attended her funeral. These are tough times for John and his family; they need our compassion and prayers more than ever.
So, what can we do from here at King of Kings?
Well, we can start by standing alongside John in love and support! Romans 12:15 encourages us to mourn with those who are mourning, and that’s exactly what we can do.
Let’s pray for John, his wife, and their other daughters. We can also keep the entire nation of Uganda in our prayers as they heal from this tragedy.
In addition to prayers, here’s another way we can help: John had to take out a loan to cover the funeral expenses, including feeding all those who attended.
